Two Pathways
There are two pathways allowing Bard students to obtain their undergraduate liberal arts degree (BA) and Levy Masters in 5 years – the 3+2 or the 4+1 programs.
The 3+2 Program
The 3+2 program is designed to offer Bard undergraduates a path to a master’s degree. Generally, qualified students are accepted into a 3+2 program in their junior year. Declaring commitment at moderation allows advising and course selection to support a smooth transition to the two-year master’s program.
Eligibility
Undergraduate Bard Students
Students enrolled in Bard College who are majoring in economics or a related field (such as political science, finance, or math) must first meet all of their distribution requirements, have a successful Moderation into a program of study, get approval from their undergraduate adviser, and submit a formal petition to the dean of studies. At the beginning of their fourth year at Bard, students enter the two-year Levy MS program. Interested students should inquire as soon as possible to ensure they meet all requirements. Bard 3+2 applicants must complete an application (log in with your Bard ID).
Transfer Students
To be eligible, transfer students must have attended one year of classes at Bard’s Annandale campus. A major in economics, economics and finance, or other relevant field is strongly recommended. Upon completion of the College’s undergraduate requirements, a student may apply to the Levy MS program during their senior year.
The 4+1 Program
Bard’s 4+1 program is designed to offer Bard undergraduates a path to a master’s degree. By selecting a 4+1 pathway, students benefit from combining graduate faculty, advising, and study into the senior year of their undergraduate experience, allowing the completion of both a bachelor’s and master’s degree program within five years.
Eligiblity
Prospective applicants are encouraged to prepare for the MA by taking economics or statistics courses before the start of the program, or to demonstrate the required level of knowledge through other means, such as research or work experience. The MA provides preparation for students intending to pursue a doctoral program in economics. Bard 4+1 applicants must complete an application.
